Col Ambrose L. McDougall, commander of the 123rd NYSV Infantry

Col Ambrose L. McDougall was commander of the 123rd NYSV Infantry Regiment, Jul 1862-Jun 1864. He was nominated as the Colonel of the Regiment at the July 22, 1862 mass convention of the citizens of Washington County, NY.
Col McDougall was wounded in the knee during the battle at Dallas/New Hope Church and was taken from the field. His leg was amputated early the next morning and he died at Chattanooga on 23d of June, 1864, about one month after being wounded.
